Engineer (Oakdale) - Full Time

Location: Oakdale, CA

Job Description

Operates and maintains stationary engines and mechanical equipment, such as compressors, generators, turbines and steam boilers.  Provides for utilities, such as heat, refrigeration, air conditioning, electrical power and other services for the medical center.

  1. Ensures maintenance, operation and repair responsibilities meet department quality expectations.
  1. Ensures quantity of maintenance, operation and repair responsibilities meets department expectations.
  1. Maintains skills, knowledge of position by keeping up with new technological advances.
  1. Exercises good judgment and decision making.
The following are unit-specific accountabilities
1.   Must be thorough, pay attention to details and make it a point to accomplish the entire task.  
  1. Complete assigned work orders and preventative maintenance (PM) by “due” deadlines.
3.   On-call as prescribed by engineering department.


Job Requirements

Minimum Education:
High school graduate or equivalent required
General maintenance background with equipment and maintenance repair knowledge
Working knowledge of medical setting.
Minimum Experience/Skills:
General mechanical ability pertaining to a variety of pieces of equipment.
Able to perform basic mathematical calculations
Physical Demands:
Prolonged, extensive or considerable standing/walking
Lifts, positions, pushes up to 50 pounds
Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching
Manual dexterity and mobility
Ability to move quickly
Vision Requirements:
Ability to adjust vision sufficiently to perform duties
Working Conditions:
Exposure to unpleasant elements (accidents, injuries, illness)
Subject to irregular hours
Increased stress due to multiple calls and inquiries
Able to work in spite of frequent interruptions
Occasional exposure to communicable diseases and blood borne pathogens, rare exposure to toxic substances such as radiation, nuclear isotopes, chemotherapeutic agent
