Journeymen Engineer (Oakdale) - Full Time

Location: Oakdale, CA

Job Description

Operates and maintains stationary engines and mechanical equipment, such as compressors, generators, turbines and steam boilers.  Provides for utilities, such as heat, refrigeration, air conditioning, electrical power and other services for the Oak Valley Hospital District (OVHD).

  1. Maintains, schedules, prioritizes work of the engineers.
  1. Ensures quality and quantity of work of the engineers.
  1. Knowledgeable of each engineer’s skills in order to appropriately assign work orders.
  1. Supervises and monitors the tasks and activities of subordinate positions.
  1. Exercises good judgment and decision making as a lead engineer.
  1. Demonstrates leadership.
The following are unit-specific accountabilities
  1. Performance shows individual to be through, pays attention to details and makes it a point to accomplish the entire task.
  1. Has a proven history of being able to establish work priorities, develop action plans and deadlines for self in order to accomplish specific goals.  Can function with a minimum need of guidance and direction.
  1. On-call as prescribed by Engineering Department.

Job Requirements

Minimum Education:
High school graduate or equivalent required.
Equipment and maintenance repair knowledge.
Working knowledge of hospital systems.
Minimum Experience/Skills:
Five to ten years’ maintenance/plant operations’ experience in a medical setting.
Supervisory skills.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications for installation and maintenance of equipment
Able to perform basic mathematical calculations
Physical Demands:
Prolonged, extensive or considerable standing/walking
Lifts, positions, pushes up to 50 pounds
Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching
Manual dexterity and mobility
Ability to move quickly
Vision Requirements:
Ability to adjust vision sufficiently to perform duties
Working Conditions:
Exposure to unpleasant elements (accidents, injuries, illness)
Subject to irregular hours
Increased stress due to multiple calls and inquiries
Able to work in spite of frequent interruptions
Occasional exposure to communicable diseases and blood borne pathogens, rare exposure to toxic substances such as radiation, nuclear isotopes, chemotherapeutic agent
