LVN - Oakdale Clinic (Riverbank) - Full Time

Job Description

Under the direction of a clinic supervisor, assesses patient/family health problems and resources.  Assists in the development, implementation, and outcomes evaluation of a plan for nursing care provided by the nursing team.  Provides technical nursing care and interventions to designated patient populations.
 
This position requires providing care and/or service to a critically through acutely ill pediatric, adult and geriatric patient population in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional and/or developmental age of the individual served.

  1. Maintains and updates patient records assuring proper procedures and maintenance of medical records, accurate systems for billing, data processing, accounts payable and accurate logs for Occupational Health patient referrals:
  • Assures all physical examinations forms are complete and medical record includes necessary lab work.
  • Obtains phone/written payer prior authorization for treatment/diagnostic services and consultation.
  • Verifies RN staff reviews and initials all lab results and imaging reports.
  • Properly files diagnostic reports and incoming correspondence in appropriate charts.
 
  1. Monitors/Tracks annual health screens and random drug program and assures timely notification to all employers when drug screens are due:
  • Maintains a current understanding of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations regarding drug and alcohol screening procedures.
  • Reviews all Employee Health records on a monthly basis for annual screening and notifies employees monthly when annual screenings are due.
 
  1. Prepares monthly report and statistics on employees for Safety and Illness and Injury Committee.
 
  1. Monitors and coordinates use of facility by maintaining accurate appointment log for patients and follows up on failed appointments:
  • Maintains patient service activity log and summarizes data periodically to assure department activity level.
  • Verifies information with physician when in question.
  • Reduces patient anxiety and promotes cooperation and compliance by making appointments for pre-placement screening, referral care appointments and diagnostic imaging.
 
  1. Performs clerical duties as directed, including distributing mail to/from and with department, organizes and maintains office information systems and files to ensure access and use of Occupational Health Center information, and at the discretion of licensed staff, composes correspondence to interdepartmental/external sources.
 
  1. Provides customer service interfacing with the patient, insurance companies and physician’s offices. Demonstrates efficient and courteous customer service that includes assisting in person or on the telephone. Answers incoming phone calls and questions and concerns presented by patients, physicians, insurance companies and other hospital personnel. Responsible for identifying and distributing daily correspondence. Responsible for taking payments and balance of Cash drawer on a daily basis.
 
  1. Interacts closely with clinic suoervisor:
  • Assures First Report information is accurate and mailed to appropriate workers’ compensation carrier within a five day timeline.
  • Maintains OSHA logs and prepares yearly summary.
  • Monitors lost and modified duty time for all District employees and help promote the Occupation Health Center in the community.
 
  1. Process Pre-billing, billing for patient accounts:
  • Process medical claims to appropriate payer and perform follow-up activity to ensure payment of claims.
  • Answers questions and concerns presents by patients, physicians, insurance companies and other hospital staff.
  • Researches accounts that may need additional charges or adjustments.
  • Answers incoming correspondence.
 
  1. Patient accounts (Collection)
  • Processes all return mail.
  • Performs file maintenance.
  • Establishes payment plans, completes contracts and audits payment plan accounts to ensure they are paid.
 
 
 

Job Requirements

Minimum Education:
Graduate of an accredited LVN School of Nursing
High school graduate or equivalent required.
 
Minimum Experience/Skills:
Able to perform basic mathematical calculations
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
 
Licenses/Certificates/Credentials:
Current California LVN license
Current AHA BLS

Vision Requirements:
Ability to adjust vision sufficiently to perform duties
